Jennifer Lindsay is an award-winning classically trained singer, violinist and composer. At age 11 she was a founding member of the Disney Young Musicians Symphony Orchestra, and at 14 she was a guest soprano soloist for the Loren L. Zachary National Vocal Competition at Ambassador Auditorium. Since then, Jennifer has gone on to perform at a number of high-profile events, including a guest solo spot singing at the Essence Awards in New York City, and performances at Disney Hall with the Southeast Symphony and Carnegie Hall with the YouTube Symphony Orchestra. Jennifer has also studied classical voice privately with instructors from the Manhattan School of Music and the Peabody Conservatory.
In 2006, Jennifer made the switch from PC to Mac and purchased a shiny new Macbook laptop. Almost immediately she discovered Garageband, Apple's introductory music production software, and her childhood love of songwriting was reborn. Over the next three years she upgraded to Logic Studio and penned dozens of songs, 10 of which are included on her debut release, Songs In The Dark (available in the Store).
Jennifer draws her musical inspiration from the timeless romantic masterpieces of Beethoven, Mendelssohn and Tchaikovsky, as well as from modern artists such as Enya, Sarah Brightman, Delerium, and Cocteau Twins. Her resulting style is a unique blend of Ambient, Electronica, Worldbeat and Classical influences, with a hint of Gothic melancholy. She is completely self-taught in composition and orchestration and single-handedly produced, engineered and arranged all of the tracks on Songs In The Dark.
During the week, Jennifer works as a project engineer in Los Angeles, CA, where she also resides. She holds a BS in Mathematics from Harvey Mudd College, a MS in Operations Research from Columbia University, and a MS in Computer Science from The Johns Hopkins University.
Jennifer is also a member of several community music groups across greater Los Angeles, including the National Association of Negro Musicians (NANM) and the Bellflower Symphony Orchestra. In her spare time, she enjoys reading science fiction & fantasy novels, shopping for costume jewelery, and tending to her rose garden.
